When you stay at Norling House, you will not miss Norbulingka Institute and we suggest you to definitely take the complimentary guided tour of the institute, please ask at the reception. Our tour guides will show you around to all of our sections, or if you wish, you can take the time to explore by yourself.

There is much to see and do here, and you will want to allow at least a couple of hours to explore the institute.

Visitors will be able to observe Tibetan artisans and their apprentices as they practice the ancient Buddhist art forms of statue-making, thangka painting, thangka applique, as well as the decorative arts of woodcarving, wood painting, tailoring, and weaving.

Norbulingka Institute takes its name from the Dalai Lama’s summer palace in Lhasa, Tibet which is renowned for its beautiful gardens, and was also a centre for religious art. Norbulingka, which means “Jewel Park” is set amidst beautiful gardens, pools and streams.
